Hit-Run Driver At Large Days After Striking Three People Near Montgomery County Courthouse

Police in Montgomery County are still searching for the hit-and-run driver who is wanted on multiple attempted murder charges in Rockville.

A new alert was issued by the Rockville City Police Department on Wednesday afternoon as the hunt for 41-year-old Walter Giovanni Marquez-Aviles, who remains at large nearly a week after hitting three people near an area courthouse.

The Gaithersburg resident was involved in the crash at around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14 near the 100 block of East Montgomery Avenue.

On Wednesday, the department released Marquez-Aviles' photo after he crashed his dark-colored SUV and fled the area, two of whom - a 79-year-old woman and 18-year-old man - remain hospitalized days after the incident.

Marquez-Aviles is wanted for three counts each of attempted murder and first-degree assault.
